Simba Fined TSh 5 Million as TPLB Announces Latest Disciplinary Decisions

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) League Operations and Management Committee, at its meeting on August 21, 2026, reviewed various incidents and developments from the league and made the following decisions:

NBC Premier League

Match No. 001: Pamba Jiji 1-1 Dodoma Jiji

Dodoma Jiji have been fined TSh 5,000,000 for an incident involving their players that was deemed to suggest superstitious practices ahead of the match.

During the warm-up, the players gathered in the middle of the pitch and formed a circle, apparently to pray, while one of the players was seen digging into the ground.

The punishment was issued under Regulation 48:1 of the Premier League Regulations on Club Control.

Pamba Jiji have received a stern warning for arriving late at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza ahead of the match on August 14, 2026.

Pamba arrived at the stadium at 12:51 p.m. instead of 12:30 p.m., contrary to Regulation 17:15 of the Premier League Regulations on Match Procedures.

The punishment was issued under Regulation 17:62 of the Premier League Regulations on Match Procedures.

Match No. 0010: Namungo 1-0 Geita Gold

Namungo have received a stern warning after their ball boys were found hiding balls and, on some occasions, failing to retrieve them after they went out of play. The committee described the conduct as unsportsmanlike and warned all clubs to respect and observe the principles of fair play.

The punishment was issued under Regulation 17:62 of the Premier League Regulations on Match Procedures.

Match No. 0012: Pamba Jiji 1-2 Simba SC

Simba have been fined TSh 5,000,000 after their fans threw bottles at the match officials during half-time, preventing the officials from using the dressing rooms.

The punishment was issued under Regulation 48:1 of the Premier League Regulations on Club Control.

Simba player Ibraheem Jabaar has also been fined TSh 5,000,000 for elbowing Pamba Jiji player No. 35, Abdulkarim Iddy. The red-card suspension remains in effect.

The punishment was issued under Regulation 42:5(5.2) of the Premier League Regulations on Player Control.

Match No. 0013: Kagera Sugar 1-1 Singida BS

Singida BS player Mathew Tegisi has been suspended for three matches and fined TSh 5,000,000 for elbowing Kagera Sugar player No. 12, Salehe Seif.

The punishment was issued under Regulation 42:5(5.2) of the Premier League Regulations on Player Control.

The centre referee for the match, Tatu Malogo from Tanga, has received a stern warning for shortcomings in his officiating resulting from an improper interpretation of the Laws of the Game.

The punishment was issued under Regulation 43:1(1.8) of the Premier League Regulations on Referee Control.

Special Notice

The committee has reminded all teams to fully comply with Regulation 20 governing the use of the Football Video Support System (FVS).

Under Regulation 20(4), only the head coach or another senior member of the technical bench is authorised to request a review of an incident through the FVS by communicating with the fourth official.

Furthermore, under Regulation 20(4)4.1, if a player believes an incident requires an FVS review, they must signal to the head coach or another member of the technical bench, who will then submit the request.

Players are prohibited from directly confronting, complaining to or pressuring the referee in an attempt to request an FVS review. Any player who violates this provision will be punished in accordance with Regulation 17:62.

The committee will continue to oversee enforcement of these regulations, and disciplinary action will be taken against anyone found to have violated the established provisions.
