Geita Gold produced a dominant performance in the NBC Premier League after thrashing Kagera Sugar 6-2 in an entertaining, goal-filled match at Bukombe Stadium. The victory earned Geita Gold three valuable points, while Kagera Sugar suffered a heavy defeat.
Richard Ng’ondya opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Obrey Chirwa doubled the lead in the 23rd minute. Yusuf Mhilu then joined the scoring with goals in the 38th and 46th minutes, giving Geita Gold a commanding advantage. Hassan Mwatelema scored for Kagera Sugar in the 40th minute, but his goal was not enough to stop Geita Gold from dominating the match.
The second half brought more misery for Kagera Sugar, with Richard Ng’ondya scoring his second goal of the game in the 63rd minute, before Obrey Chirwa completed his brace in the 69th minute. Kagera tried to reduce the deficit but failed to mount a strong response, while Robert Mkandya added Geita Gold’s sixth goal in stoppage time in the 90+1st minute.
In total, the match produced eight goals, with Geita Gold displaying tremendous attacking quality. Ng’ondya, Chirwa and Mhilu were the stars of the victory, with each player scoring twice. Bukombe witnessed a true goal fest, but for Kagera Sugar, it was a night to forget after suffering a heavy 6-2 defeat.
