Simba SC Organise Fan Trip to Malawi for CAF Champions League Opener

Simba SC have put in place a special plan to take their fans to Malawi to watch the club begin its 2026/27 CAF Champions League campaign.

Simba will begin their continental campaign against Malawi's Mighty Wanderers in the first leg of the preliminary round, scheduled for September 6, 2026, in Malawi. The return leg is set for September 13, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, with the venue to be announced later.

Speaking to journalists, Simba Head of Information and Communications Ahmed Ally said the team will leave Dar es Salaam on the morning of September 4 for Malawi. The squad will train on the evening of the same day and again on September 5 before playing on September 6.

Simba Will Not Travel Alone

Ahmed Ally said the club has arranged a dedicated bus for fans who want to travel with the team to Malawi, as part of its efforts to ensure Simba receive strong support away from home.

He said the journey will begin on September 3, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. from Dar es Salaam to Lilongwe, Malawi. Fans will gather at the Engen station in Ubungo before starting the trip.

The trip has been described as a luxury journey, with Simba targeting at least three buses to transport its supporters.

"Since we are going to Malawi, we have organised a bus trip for fans travelling to Malawi. We have travelled by bus to Malawi, Zambia and even Uganda before. This time, we are going to play Mighty Wanderers, and we said we should not leave the team to travel alone," Ahmed said.

He added: "This time we are returning to Malawi, and we want to break the record for travelling with the largest number of fans."

Passport Is Mandatory

Fans wishing to make the trip have been urged to ensure they have valid travel documents. Ahmed said no fan will be allowed to board the bus without a passport.

"If you want to go to Malawi, the first requirement is that you must have a travel document (passport). If you don't have one, start the process of getting the paper passport, as Malawi also accepts that document. To avoid inconvenience, no one without a passport will be allowed to board," he said.

Fans wishing to reserve a place on the trip can contact Simba on 0742-771311 for bookings and further information.

Simba Target African Semi-Finals

Beyond preparations for the trip to Malawi, Ahmed Ally said Simba are determined to make a strong return to continental competition following what he described as a difficult campaign for the club last season.

He said Simba have reviewed last season's performance and recruited highly experienced players with the aim of achieving better results in the CAF Champions League.

"Last year's campaign is behind us. We conducted a thorough analysis, and we have signed top players with extensive experience. We believe that this year we will get past the group stage and reach the quarter-finals," Ahmed said.

Ahmed stressed that Simba's major target this season is to reach the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League.
