Aston Villa have completed the signing of Portuguese international winger Rafael Leão from AC Milan on a loan deal. The agreement has reached its final stages, with all transfer documents completed, as Leão prepares to begin a new chapter of his career in England.
As part of the deal, Aston Villa have the option to sign Leão permanently for around £41 million. This means Villa can activate the buy option at the end of his loan spell if he performs well and the club decides to make the move permanent.
Aston Villa have also agreed to cover Leão’s salary, reportedly worth around €8 million per year. Manager Unai Emery is said to have played a key role in securing the transfer, leading the club’s efforts to bring in the winger, who is renowned for his pace, dribbling ability, chance creation and goalscoring.
For Aston Villa, Leão’s arrival represents a major boost to their attacking options and underlines the club’s ambition to build a more competitive squad. For Leão, the move offers an opportunity to experience a new challenge in the Premier League after his spell at AC Milan.
All eyes will now be on the Portuguese star to see whether he can produce his best form under Emery and ultimately convince Aston Villa to activate the £41 million buy option.
