Uncertainty continues to surround Argentine striker Julian Alvarez at Atletico Madrid, with the forward missing training for three consecutive days as speculation over his potential transfer continues to intensify.
Atlético Madrid says Álvarez has been absent from training due to an “indisposicion,” meaning he is not feeling well and has reported health concerns. However, his absence comes at a time when pressure from fans and tensions surrounding his future at the club have reached a high point.
Three Days Without Training
Alvarez missed training on Wednesday and Thursday before being absent again on Friday. Coach Diego Simeone has confirmed that the striker will not feature against Sevilla after spending three days away from training with his teammates.
Simeone, however, did not use the situation to criticise his player. Instead, he said the club would continue to support Alvarez and ensure that he feels like an important part of the squad when he returns.
Growing Pressure After Being Booed by Fans
Alvarez's absence comes just days after he endured a difficult atmosphere during Atletico's match against Villarreal.
The striker was booed by some Atletico fans during the game following his comments about the possibility of leaving the club. After the match, he went straight to the dressing room on the advice of the club.
The incident has further fuelled the feeling that the relationship between Alvarez, the fans and certain sections of the club has entered a difficult period.
Barcelona at the Heart of the Dispute
At the centre of the saga is Alvarez's desire to join Barcelona. Reports indicate that the forward views Barcelona as his dream destination, but Atletico have continued to reject the possibility of letting him leave.
Alvarez remains under contract with Atlético until 2030, with a release clause reportedly worth around €500 million. This has made a direct move to Barcelona extremely difficult.
Earlier this week, Atletico's board adopted an even firmer stance, saying there was no possibility of selling Alvarez to Barcelona. The club claimed that Barcelona had not handled the matter in a professional and ethical manner.

While Barcelona remains Alvarez's preferred destination, Arsenal are reportedly monitoring his situation.
Recent reports suggest that Atletico have held secret talks with Arsenal over a potential transfer, with claims that the Madrid club could consider a bid in excess of £120 million.
This has added further pressure on Alvarez, who wants his future resolved before the transfer window closes.
