Geita Gold and Azam FC played out a 2-2 draw in an entertaining NBC Premier League clash at Bukombe Stadium. The match delivered plenty of drama, particularly in the closing stages, as Geita Gold scored a stoppage-time equaliser to deny Azam FC all three points.
Azam FC opened the scoring through Abdul Sopu, who converted a penalty in the 45+2nd minute to give his side the lead. However, Geita Gold responded just four minutes later when Obrey Chirwa scored from the spot in the 45+6th minute, making it 1-1 at half-time.
The second half remained fiercely contested as both sides searched for the winning goal. Azam FC appeared to have secured the three points when Himid Mao put them ahead in the 89th minute.
But Geita Gold refused to give up. Martin Kigi struck in the 90+4th minute to level the score and earn the hosts a valuable point in front of their supporters.
The result sees both teams share the points after a four-goal thriller that remained in the balance until the final moments.
