Yanga SC President Engineer Hersi Said has made it clear that the club is targeting a strong run in the CAF Champions League this season, including reaching the final and competing for the continental title.
Speaking during the launch of a new Yanga branch in Gaborone, Botswana, Hersi said Gaborone United are a good team, but Yanga have prepared well and did not travel to Botswana simply to participate. He stressed that if they reach the final, their ambition will be to lift the trophy.
Hersi also explained that the launch of the branch aims to give Yanga members living outside Tanzania access to club services and enable them to exercise their membership rights. He revealed that the branch has 63 members, well above the constitutional requirement of 20 members needed to establish a branch.
The Yanga president added that the Gaborone branch is the club’s 18th branch established outside Tanzania, describing the development as part of the growth of Yanga’s brand and its network of members and supporters across different countries.
