Moroccan winger and attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech has reached a preliminary agreement to join Brazilian side Botafogo as a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Wydad Casablanca.
The 33-year-old, who has previously played for Chelsea and Ajax, is heading to Brazil to complete the formalities of the move, including a medical and contract signing. The agreement is expected to keep Ziyech at Botafogo until December 2028.
The transfer opens a new chapter in Ziyech’s career following his brief spell at Wydad Casablanca, whom he joined in October 2025. During his time with the Moroccan club, Ziyech made 16 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing two assists, while also dealing with injury problems and struggling to maintain a consistent run in the squad.
