Barcelona continued their impressive start to the La Liga season after thrashing Racing Santander 7-2 in Wednesday’s match on September 16, 2026, at Spotify Camp Nou.
The victory keeps Barcelona at the top of La Liga with 18 points from six matches, having won every league game so far this season.
Raphinha Leads Barcelona’s Goal Fest
Brazilian forward Raphinha was the star of the match after scoring a hat-trick. He found the net in the 25th, 42nd and 67th minutes, with two of his goals coming from the penalty spot.
Joao Cancelo opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a powerful long-range shot that struck the crossbar before finding the back of the net. Cancelo was also involved in Barcelona’s third goal, which was credited as an own goal by Asier Villalibre after the ball deflected off the Racing player.
Racing Santander scored through Maguette Gueye and Yassir Zabiri, but Barcelona continued to dominate the match and prevented the visitors from mounting a full comeback.
Gabriel Jesus and Lamine Yamal Complete the Rout
After Raphinha completed his hat-trick to put Barcelona 5-2 ahead, Gabriel Jesus added the sixth goal in the 79th minute.
In the 89th minute, Lamine Yamal scored Barcelona’s seventh after receiving a pass from Karim Adeyemi, finishing off the attack to make it 7-2.
Yamal had also been presented with a chance to score from the penalty spot in the first half, but Racing goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala made the save.
New Record for Barcelona
The victory was historic for Barcelona. The club have started the season with seven consecutive wins across all competitions, something they had never previously achieved in their history. Six of those victories have come in La Liga and one in the Champions League.
Barcelona have also shown tremendous goalscoring form, netting 32 goals in their first seven matches of the season.
For Raphinha, the hat-trick further underlined his excellent start to the campaign. He has now scored nine goals in six La Liga appearances.
