Geita Gold FC defender Datius Peter has described the foul committed against him by Yanga SC midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki as unfortunate and not intentional, while revealing that he is recovering well after suffering pain during the NBC Premier League match played on September 15, 2026.
Datius was injured after Aziz Ki committed a foul on him in the early stages of the match between Geita Gold and Yanga at KMC Complex. Speaking after the game, Datius said Aziz Ki had never been known for making tackles of that nature, adding that he believed the midfielder was simply trying to shield the ball with his foot.
“Aziz Ki has never made tackles like that. I think it was unfortunate because his foot was trying to shield the ball, and my movement on the pitch is what caused it to happen that way,” Datius said, adding that he is now doing well and has already started training.
During the incident, referee Abdisalam Wajih initially showed Aziz Ki a yellow card before going to the VAR monitor and changing the decision to a straight red card. Yanga played with 10 men for more than 70 minutes but still managed to secure a 1-0 victory through Farouk Koumara’s goal.
Datius said medical examinations after the incident showed swelling around his ankle and the upper part of his shin, but treatment has helped improve his condition.
