Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo are reportedly among the England players expected to withdraw from the squad ahead of the UEFA Nations League fixtures, with injury and fitness concerns understood to be behind the potential withdrawals.
Palmer, who was recalled to the England squad after missing the 2026 World Cup, is reportedly set to withdraw due to workload management and a minor muscle problem. The Chelsea forward has made a strong start to the season, scoring four goals and providing two assists in seven appearances before playing the full 90 minutes in the 3-0 defeat to Brentford.
At Manchester United, Rashford is expected to undergo an assessment over a hip problem that has been managed by the club after he was substituted during the 1-1 draw against Fulham. Mainoo, meanwhile, is also reportedly a doubt due to an injury issue.
England included all three players in the 27-man squad announced on September 18, but Tuchel may now be forced to make changes before the start of the Nations League campaign. England will open their campaign against world champions Spain on September 26 at Wembley Stadium, before facing Czechia and Croatia in their subsequent fixtures.
