Sandaland Fashion Wear Limited has announced plans to take legal action against Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, following his remarks concerning the new Taifa Stars kits.
The move comes after Makonda posted a message on his Instagram account on September 16, 2026, expressing dissatisfaction with the kits and questioning the use of Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Hamis Mwinjuma “Mwana FA” in their public presentation.
In its statement, Sandaland said the remarks had affected the company’s name, brand and reputation, insisting that it has a contract with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) to manufacture and distribute Taifa Stars kits. The company also claimed that it had already begun experiencing economic and reputational damage as a result of the remarks.
Sandaland said it would not remain silent and intends to pursue legal action over the statements, demanding that the matter be handled through the appropriate legal procedures. The dispute continues amid differing positions over the kits, the TFF contract and the manner in which the new designs were presented to the public.
