Tanzania’s Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, has urged football club leaders across the country to resolve their disputes through internal meetings and institutional mechanisms in order to avoid the perception that the Government is interfering in the running of football clubs.
Makonda made the remarks on September 24, 2026, in Dar es Salaam while addressing journalists on preparations for AFCON 2027 and Miss World 2027. He said club leaders should develop a culture of sitting together, listening to one another and seeking solutions whenever they encounter challenges.
He stressed that the Government should not be involved in every dispute that arises within football clubs, particularly when the matter can be resolved by the club’s leaders and stakeholders through dialogue and established internal procedures.
According to Makonda, club leaders should build a foundation of understanding and use their internal mechanisms to resolve differences, while the Government should only intervene when there is a legal or administrative necessity.
