Sudan have been crowned champions of the CECAFA U20 Championship after defeating Tanzania on penalties in a dramatic final.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes, forcing the championship decider to be settled from the penalty spot.
Sudan held their nerve to win the shootout 4-3, securing the CECAFA U20 title at Tanzania’s expense.
Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Heroes fought hard throughout the match but ultimately fell short in the decisive penalty shootout.
The tournament also serves as part of the qualification pathway for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
