The organisers of the Ballon d’Or have confirmed the procedure that will be used if two or more players finish with exactly the same number of points in the voting.
If there is a tie, the player who receives the most first-place votes will be declared the winner.
If the players are still level, the second-place votes will then be counted, with the player receiving the most votes in that position taking the lead.
If the tie continues, the same procedure will be applied to third-place votes, followed by the subsequent positions until a winner is determined.
However, if the players remain inseparable after all positions have been considered, the editor-in-chief of France Football will have the responsibility of making the final decision on the winner.
The procedure is designed to ensure that the Ballon d’Or has a single winner even when two or more players finish with exactly the same overall points.
