Popular Young Africans Sports Club fan and member Haji Omari Ramadhani Mpili, widely known as Mzee Mpili, has passed away on the night of September 27, 2026, in Ikwiriri, Rufiji District, Pwani Region.
According to a statement released by Yanga’s management, Mzee Mpili passed away at Ikwiriri District Health Centre, where he had been receiving treatment. People who knew him said he had been experiencing various health challenges, including back and waist pain as well as age-related complications.
Mzee Mpili was well known among Yanga fans for his deep love and support for the club. His death has brought sadness to his family, relatives, friends and the wider Yanga community.
His burial is expected to take place today, Monday, September 28, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Main Mosque Cemetery in Ikwiriri, Pwani Region.
Yanga’s management has extended its condolences to the family, relatives, friends and members of the football community affected by the loss, while calling for patience and calm during this difficult period.
