Yanga SC right-back Israel Mwenda has taken his issue to the Tanzania Football Players Association (SPATA), seeking the association’s assistance in resolving the differences between him and the club and creating a path for his return to the squad.
SPATA Chairman Mussa Kisoki has confirmed that the association is handling the matter, although he said it was still too early to discuss the details publicly. He added that SPATA would provide more information at the appropriate time, while emphasizing the association’s responsibility to support players when they face challenges concerning their employment interests.
According to a report by Mwanaspoti, Mwenda’s representatives have already asked SPATA to engage with Yanga’s leadership over the matter, with communication between the two sides now underway. Mwenda has not featured for Yanga since before the end of last season and has yet to be included in the squad during the 2026/27 campaign.
His continued absence has raised questions about his future at Yanga, particularly given his previous involvement in the Kariakoo Derby. However, the exact reasons for his absence and the next steps have not yet been officially disclosed by Yanga.
