Only 260 days remain until the opening of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the continent’s premier football tournament, which will be jointly hosted by Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda from June 19, 2027.
AFCON 2027 will make history as the first edition of the tournament to be jointly hosted by three East African countries, under the “Pamoja 2027” slogan, symbolizing regional cooperation in staging one of Africa’s biggest football events.
Preparations are gathering pace across the three host nations, with various infrastructure projects being upgraded to ensure that stadiums, training facilities, transportation and other services meet the requirements of the tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
For Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda, hosting AFCON 2027 represents more than just a football tournament. It provides an opportunity for East Africa to showcase itself internationally through sport, tourism, business and other economic sectors.
As the countdown to June 19, 2027 continues, the attention of football fans is increasingly turning toward East Africa, with “Pamoja 2027” carrying the message of the three nations joining forces to host one of the continent’s biggest sporting events.
