Simba SC have officially announced their general election, scheduled for January 3, 2027, with the collection of nomination forms for members seeking various leadership positions set to begin on October 30, 2026.
The move marks the beginning of an important electoral process at the Msimbazi-based club, giving members an opportunity to contest leadership positions and determine the institution's direction for the coming years.
The election timetable was announced by Simba's Electoral Committee during a press conference held on Wednesday, where committee officials outlined all the stages leading up to election day.
Electoral Committee Chairman Anderson Msumba said the announcement was intended to inform club members and stakeholders about the entire election process, from the collection of nomination forms to the declaration of results.
Nomination Forms Available From October 30
According to Electoral Committee Vice-Chairman Alpha Gervas, members wishing to contest leadership positions will collect nomination forms from October 30 to November 6, 2026.
The forms will then be submitted between November 7 and 11, after which the committee will begin verifying candidates' information and eligibility requirements.
The announced timetable shows that November 12 to 14 will be dedicated to reviewing the forms, with the provisional list of eligible candidates expected to be published on November 15, 2026.
The objections period will follow from November 17 to 18, with hearings scheduled for November 23 to 25. Decisions on the objections are expected between November 26 and 27, before the final list of candidates is announced on November 30.
Campaigns to Begin on December 3
After the verification and objections processes are completed, approved candidates will begin their campaigns on December 3, 2026.
The campaigns will run until January 2, 2027, one day before the general election takes place on January 3.
This period is expected to be important for candidates to present their policies, club development plans and strategies for strengthening Simba both on and off the pitch.
Members will have an opportunity to assess the candidates' agendas before making their decisions in the election.
Seven Leadership Positions, With at Least One Reserved for a Woman
In remarks delivered by Electoral Committee member Richard Mwalibwa, seven leadership positions were outlined. Five will be contested through elections, while the remaining two will be filled through appointments made by the elected chairman.
According to the explanation, the chairmanship position requires a university degree, while the other positions have varying educational qualifications.
Furthermore, at least one of the five elected positions must be filled by a woman, highlighting the requirement for women's representation in the club's leadership.
Mwalibwa explained that candidates must be Simba members aged between 25 and 65 and must have held membership for at least three years since receiving their membership cards. They must also meet any other requirements applicable to the positions they seek.
Why Is Simba Holding Elections in 2027?
The Electoral Committee explained that the process follows Simba's 2018 Constitution, which was amended in 2025 and registered in February 2026.
According to the information provided, Article 26 of the club's constitution stipulates that elections must be held every four years.
Msumba said the previous election took place in January 2023, meaning the current leadership's term is approaching its end in January 2027.
