Yanga management have confirmed that midfielder Duke Abuya could be sidelined for two to three weeks after sustaining an injury in the Kariakoo Derby against Simba, with further medical tests underway to determine the full extent of the injury.
The club’s Head of Information and Communications, Ali Kamwe, said the timeline was based on a preliminary report from the team doctor, adding that the midfielder’s actual return date would depend on the test results and further medical assessments.
Speaking to journalists at Yanga’s headquarters in Jangwani, Kamwe explained that Abuya’s injury initially appeared to be a routine football injury, but the pain had persisted, making further examinations necessary.
“According to our doctor’s preliminary report, Abuya could be out for two to three weeks. This is an initial estimate, and we will continue to monitor his progress based on the test results and the doctors’ assessments,” Kamwe said.
He added that, despite Abuya’s injury, Yanga’s other players are in good condition, allowing the team to continue preparing for its upcoming challenges.
The update comes as Yanga prepare for their CAF Champions League match against Madagascar’s CFFA, scheduled for Saturday, October 17, at Azam Complex in Tanzania.
