Yanga supporters witnessed a dominant performance at KMC Complex as the Wananchi secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Kagera Sugar in the NBC Mainland Premier League.
Playing at a high tempo and applying intense pressing that made it difficult for Kagera Sugar to build attacks from the back, the defending champions showed their determination to collect all three points from the outset. Peter Shalulile initially found the net, but his early goal was ruled out by the Football Video Support (FVS) system for offside.
However, just a short while later, in the 26th minute, Shalulile scored again, with the goal allowed by FVS after he finished off a cross from Hussein Zakuane.
Just six minutes later, Kagera Sugar were forced to restart from the centre circle once again after Mohamed Hussein 'Zimbwe Jr' scored Yanga's second goal, finishing off an excellent pass from Stephane Aziz Ki.
Yanga went into the break with a 2-0 lead. In the second half, Ibrahim Toure came on as a super-sub and added two more goals in the closing stages.
He scored the third in the 87th minute with a header from a Zimbwe Jr cross before completing his brace with a cheeky backheel in stoppage time after receiving a cross from Clement Mzize.
The victory lifted Yanga back into second place, marking the second consecutive win for the Wananchi after a difficult spell.
