The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports has started implementing the instructions of the Prime Minister, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa together with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to start the renovation of the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam
Speaking during a visit to plan to implement those instructions, March 5th, 2023, the Secretary General of the Ministry, Mr. Saidi Yakubu has said that the renovation will begin immediately after the guidance counselor completes his work
"This renovation will consist of three phases, the first one will be the renovation of the changing areas, the watershed, repairing the damaged seats, adding lights inside the stadium and other areas"
"Also repair the electricity and water system as well as the journalists' area where we will move them where they are staying now and allocate a better area for them" said Yakubu.
"The second phase will be a major renovation that will be carried out by international contractors and will involve the playing area (pitch) to expand the celebrity section, install a large television with a bright appearance"
Secretary General Yakubu added that the third phase will involve expanding the field as well as building other small fields including swimming in the remaining area, installing modern seats, setting aside a resting area for celebrities and making it an attraction for the city of Dar es Salaam
p>The renovation will be done under the Tanzania Real Estate Agency (TBA) as a guiding consultant
