Bruno Fernandes should not captain Manchester United following Sunday's humiliating 7-0 defeat by Liverpool, says former Chelsea and England player Chris Sutton.
The Portuguese, who acts as the club's captain instead of Harry Maguire, was criticized for his behavior and attitude in the game.
"There are people who are more qualified to be captain, Fernandes is not their best leader. There are people who are better than him, Casemiro being one. I think he should never wear a Manchester United shirt again," Sutton told the BBC
Fernandes, 28, has 57 goals and 50 assists in 166 appearances for the club in all competitions, but his body language at Anfield was branded 'disgraceful' by former United captain Roy Keane
Another former captain Gary Neville said the player was embarrassing at times
In that game Fernandez also appeared to push the referee's assistant in the 81st minute. No action was taken by the referee at that time and the incident is not being investigated by the Football Association
