President of Yanga Engineer Hersi Said said that they are in South Africa with the aim of getting good results that will take them to the final stage of CAF Confederations Cup
Hersi has led the Yanga expedition that landed in South Africa yesterday towards the second leg of the semi-final of the CAF Confederation against Marumo Gallanst which will be played on Wednesday May 17th with Yanga leading by 2-0
Hersi has said that at the stage they have reached in the competition, they have a chance to reach the finals and possibly win the Cup
Hersi, who on Saturday led the excitement to celebrate the Premier League championship for the second season in a row after Yanga won 4-2 against Dodoma City at the Azam Complex, said it would be a great honor for Yanga club to become the first team to reach the final of the CAF Confederation Cup and even become a champion
"I congratulate Yanga fans but I want to assure them that together we have not finished this work, the work will be finished on Wednesday to take Tanzania to the final of this competition and God willing we will be the first club to bring the CAF CC Cup"
"Let me be clear, there was a competition called the CAF Cup, that competition is where our colleagues reached the Finals, there was another competition called the CAF Winners Cup, these competitions were combined in 2004 to form the CAF Confederation Cup, this is a big competition that united the two (CAF Cup & CAF Winners Cup)"
"Yanga is the first club from Tanzania to participate in this competition at the Semi-Final stage, but Yanga is one step towards the Final, that has never participated in any Tanzanianteam at the Semi-Final stage," said Hersi
