The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in collaboration with Kenya and Uganda through Pamoja Bid have decided to host the Africa Cup of Nations Finals to be held in 2027 (AFCON 2027), it has been officially announced.
Speaking in the city, Dodoma yesterday, the Director of Presidential Communications, State House, Zuhura Yunus, said that these countries are vying for that position in recognition of the great success that the sports sector has achieved, so being the hosts of AFCON will add more enthusiasm to the growth of sports, especially football .
She said that the championship will contribute to the growth of tourism as it is a competition that is watched by more than one billion people in Africa and other parts of the world in general.
Similarly, President Samia said that the competition will bring famous people in the country who are influential in the world, thus enabling and benefiting many sectors of the economy where they contribute to employment, income for businesses and the government.
On the other hand, President Samia said that the Government, through the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports in collaboration with the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), has already conducted research and prepared a strategic plan for the implementation of preparations to host the tournament.
p>The AFCON tournament will set a record for the first time to be held in the East African region since it was officially established in 1957.
In 2017, Tanzania hosted the Africa Cup of Nations Under-17 Finals (AFCON U-17).
