Yesterday, the city of Dar es Salaam stopped for several hours to pass the largest Sports Festival in East and Central Africa, SIMBA DAY
It is a record on top of a record for Simba, the Benjamin Mkapa stadium was not enough to accommodate all the people who came to witness the identity of the Simba team for the 2023/24 season
The excitement was fueled by the visit of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, who congratulated Simba for organizing the big festival
The festival ended with an international friendly game between Simba against Power Dynamos, champions of the Zambia Premier League
Simba started with a 2-0 victory, Willy Onana and Fabrice Ngoma scoring the goals that ended the joy of Simba fans after seeing the quality of their team
Onana was the one who started giving joy to Simba fans after scoring the lead goal in the first half which lasted until the break while the second goal was scored in the second half
In the first half, Simba started fast, exchanging short passes and seeing each other, they were seen using the side wings to attack
Their attacks were woven by Willy Onana and Clatous Chama who were playing on alternate sides
Onana seemed to be more attractive to Simba fans due to the way he was making accurate passes to the right person. The 45th minute of the first half proved his skills after he blocked the ball in the net and raised the fans who showed up for Mkapa
Another player who attracted the attention of the Zimbabweans is the central defender Che Fondoh Malone who seemed to be smart in defense as well as starting attacks
