The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has awarded the Tanzanian national team 'Taifa Stars' Sh700 million as a compliment after the team qualified for Afcon 2025 to be held next year in Morocco
Stars has qualified for the tournament for the second time in a row after defeating Guinea 1-0, in the final group stage game played at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium yesterday. The only winning goal was scored by Simon Msuva in the 61st minute
Speaking on behalf of President Samia, Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports, Dr. Damas Ndumbaro has said that the prize has been given in appreciation of their struggle to qualify, and the money has already been entered into the account of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Sports
Stars has also been invited to visit the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania in February next year
Tanzania is among the 24 teams that qualified for the competition
