After a successful spell at Leicester City, Drinkwater was signed by Chelsea in 2017 before being loaned out to Burnley
His contract with Chelsea expired in June 2022 where the player could not find a new club, he announced his retirement from professional football in May 2023
Drinkwater now works in construction. In an interview with The Telegraph, he mentioned enjoying the work he is doing now
