Yanga tonight, Thursday, will be at the stadium to face JKU of Zanzibar in the Union Cup final
Yanga narrowly escaped in the semi-finals where they had to wait until the penalty shootout after 90 minutes of the match ended in a 1-1 draw, today they face JKU who are the defending Zanzibar Premier League champions
Yanga, who hold the Mainland Premier League championship for the third consecutive season, will now go down to the field to face their fellow Zanzibar champions, JKU who knocked out Azam FC by scoring 2-1 in the other semi-final match
The teams are the champions of the Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar Leagues and today will be a fierce match for the Union to find their fiercest
All teams will go down to the Gombani Stadium starting at 1:15 pm each with a different goal, Yanga wanting to improve the record of carrying the championship title many times, but JKU looking first championship as they have never won the title and these are their first finals
Records show that since the inception of the championship in 1982, Yanga has won it six times in 1983, 1987, 1991, 1996, 1997 and 2000
Yanga, who are leading the Premier League standings and seeking a fourth consecutive title, need to win to secure their seventh title
Yanga coach, Miloud Hamdi, has stressed that he needs to lift the trophy to keep the players fit before finishing with the Premier League matches and the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup (FA)
