Yesterday was an emotional day for Yanga SC fans — not just because of the impressive 2-0 win over JKT Tanzania in the CRDB Cup semifinal, but also due to the special tribute paid to attacking midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki.
Through the captain's armband he wore, fans and the team openly signaled that this might have been his final match in a Yanga jersey.
Aziz Ki, who was the top scorer and the best player of the NBC Premier League last season, is expected to join Moroccan football giants Wydad Athletic Club.
Reports of an agreement between Yanga and Wydad have been circulating for some time, with the transfer awaiting only the end of the season to be officially finalized — marking the next chapter in the midfielder’s successful football journey.
Unfortunately, delays in concluding the Tanzanian Premier League have forced an acceleration of Aziz Ki’s departure, as Wydad are preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States starting June 15.
This means Aziz Ki will not be part of Yanga's squad for the remaining league matches.
During his three seasons with Yanga, Aziz Ki has left an indelible mark: he has been a creative playmaker, a reliable goal scorer, and a remarkable leader. He has won trophies, provided assists, and — above all — been an integral part of Yanga’s success story.
