Simba SC head coach Fadlu Davids has said that despite the quality of RS Berkane, his team is well-prepared to capitalize on home advantage and win the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final, which will be played tomorrow (Sunday) at the New Amaan Complex Stadium in Zanzibar.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of the match, Fadlu stated that Simba’s ambition is to win the CAF Confederation Cup and make new history in Tanzanian football.
He also mentioned that the first-leg match, which they lost 2-0 in Morocco, served as a learning experience, and they now understand how to approach the return leg.
“We know Berkane is a top-tier team in African football right now, but they didn’t face Simba at its full strength and capability.”
“We are ready to face them, and let me just say—they will meet an angry Simba. We used the first leg as a lesson heading into this return leg,” said Fadlu.
Speaking on behalf of his teammates, Simba assistant captain Shomari Kapombe said they had hoped the match would be played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, but since that wasn’t possible, they’ll now execute their game plan at the New Amaan Complex.
“We know every player, member, and Simba fan wanted this match to be played at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, but we can’t go against what has been decided by the authorities.”
“Whatever we planned to do at Benjamin Mkapa, we will now do here at the New Amaan Complex,” said Kapombe.
