Yanga SC to Scout New Signings at CHAN 2024 Tournament

Yanga SC is expected to use the upcoming CHAN 2024 tournament, set to run from August 2 to August 30, to scout top players for possible recruitment.

Speaking recently, Yanga's Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, stated that the club's recruitment is currently 85% complete.

A senior Yanga official, quoted by Mwanaspoti, revealed that the club will intentionally leave a few roster spots open to monitor players at CHAN, explaining that their main challenge is finding high-quality players, not financial constraints.

According to the official, the club plans to use the tournament to identify players who can strengthen specific positions in their squad.

The top Yanga executive involved in player recruitment explained that all players participating in CHAN are drawn from local African leagues, which should make it easier for the club to acquire them.

"We can’t fill all the roster spots now. We’ll be watching CHAN closely. Our problem is finding the right quality players, not money,"

"If it were just about money, we wouldn’t be entering situations where a player is being pursued by multiple teams. We want the right players who fit our objectives,"

"Some of the players we’re targeting will be at this tournament. We’re planning to scout in Uganda, Kenya, and here in Tanzania to identify the best players we need," he said.

The tournament coincides with the open transfer window, which will close on September 7, while CHAN itself is expected to conclude on August 30.
