Yanga President Urges Players to Focus on New Season, Leave Past Success Behind

Yanga President Engineer Hersi Said has urged the team’s players to forget the achievements of last season and channel their energy into performing even better in the upcoming 2025/26 campaign.

Speaking during a seminar held in Dar es Salaam yesterday that brought together players, the technical bench, and club officials, Hersi emphasized that all the previous season’s successes are now part of history, and everything starts afresh.

“This is a very strong family. This family has achieved great success over the past four seasons. We are grateful for what we have accomplished, but let me assure you—it’s all history now.”

“We’re letting go of history; now we have work to do. It’s a new season, and we are all starting on the same line.”

“Whether it’s a team that barely avoided relegation last season or the champions, everyone begins at the same starting line.”

“Let’s forget everything we did last season—the goals we scored, the assists, or the number of games we won—it’s all history. Now we’re heading into a new season,” said Hersi.

Yanga has officially begun their preparations for the 2025/26 season, where head coach Romain Folz will have roughly ten days to prepare before their first pre-season match against Rayon Sports, set to be played on August 15 in Rwanda.
