Yanga Open to Clement Mzize Transfer if All Parties Benefit

Yanga SC’s Media and Communications Manager, Ali Kamwe, has said the club has no reason to stop a player when they receive a good offer to join another team.

Kamwe made this statement following ongoing discussions surrounding the situation of striker Clement Mzize, for whom Yanga has received offers from various clubs.

He dismissed rumors suggesting the club is blocking the player from playing professional football abroad, explaining that the club prioritizes the interests of all three parties before agreeing to a deal.

“We don’t block players—we have never done that and will never do it. We sold Fiston Mayele, who was our top scorer and the Confederation Cup’s top scorer. We also sold Stephane Aziz Ki, all when they were at their peak.”

“As an institution, we receive offers and involve the player. There are offers we fully accept, but sometimes the player’s side refuses, saying it’s not favorable for them, or the player doesn’t want to move to a particular country.”

“So, it’s not just about money—it’s also about the team, environment, and benefits. The club has always been close to the player to discuss all these matters. It’s never a case of the club just getting its money and ignoring the player’s welfare. For example, there have been deals the club rejected because they weren’t in the player’s best interest,” Kamwe said.

Kamwe revealed that a Libyan team once offered a large sum to both the club and the player, but after reviewing the club’s history and record, both sides rejected it.

“We want to sell our player when he is free and all parties are satisfied. I believe if everything goes well, Yanga will announce Mzize’s transfer,” Kamwe added.

Tunisian club Esperance is reported to have made the most lucrative offer—estimated at TZS 2.6 billion—which meets Yanga’s requirements.

It is said that an agreement between the two clubs has already been reached, and the player has also approved the deal in terms of his personal benefits. Therefore, Mzize could join Esperance after the conclusion of the CHAN tournament.
