Yanga Head Coach Romain Folz has expressed confidence in striker Prince Dube despite the forward missing several clear chances in the first-leg preliminary round match of the CAF Champions League against Wiliete SC.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Yanga will host Wiliete SC at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, carrying a strong advantage after their 3–0 away victory in Angola.
Dube was among the scorers in that match, alongside Aziz Andabwile and Edmund John. However, his missed chances sparked debates on social media.
Folz explained that he has faith in the Zimbabwean striker, which is why he kept him on the pitch until he eventually scored.
The French coach noted that the key positive for his team is their ability to create many chances, though their finishing still needs improvement — something he intends to address in training sessions.
“We are not under major pressure, although it’s true our efficiency in front of goal is not yet satisfying. We will keep working on it in training to improve.”
“But I must trust my players when I assign them responsibilities. For example, Prince Dube missed some clear chances in Angola, yet I kept him on the pitch because I believe in him.”
“That trust paid off because he eventually scored. Had I substituted him around the 60th minute, things could have turned out differently.”
“We are creating many chances, and we are also converting some of them into goals. We’ll continue working in training to sharpen our efficiency in front of goal,” said Folz.
