Manchester United have announced that their midfielder Casemiro will leave the club once his contract expires at the end of this season.
The 33-year-old joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2022 for a fee of £70 million and has gone on to make a total of 146 appearances.
He scored the opening goal in the 2023 Carabao Cup final victory against Newcastle, while Manchester United finished third in the Premier League in his first season at the club.
However, last year he was mentioned by the club’s new co-owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who told BBC Sport that some players were not good enough and were being paid excessively high wages.
Casemiro said he will remain a supporter of Manchester United at all times.
“I will keep Manchester United in my heart for the rest of my life. This is not a time to say goodbye; there are still many memories to create in the next four months. We still have many things to fight for together; my full focus, as always, will remain on giving everything I have to help our club succeed,” he said.
