Government Approves Simba’s Revised Constitution to Strengthen Governance and Investment

The government, through the National Sports Council (BMT), has officially approved amendments to the constitution of Simba Sports Club following the completion of the legal process under the Office of the Registrar of Sports Associations.

The approval gives Simba the green light to begin implementing the new constitution, which aims to strengthen good governance, enhance accountability, and create a favorable environment for investment in the historic club.

According to the amendments, Simba Sports Club Company Limited will be responsible for overseeing the club’s commercial and operational matters. The move is intended to separate administrative duties from commercial activities in order to improve efficiency and competitiveness in modern football.

Additionally, share ownership will remain under the Board of Trustees on behalf of club members, a step aimed at safeguarding member ownership principles and ensuring their interests are protected. The constitution also stipulates that the Board of Trustees will consist of between five and seven members, while the General Assembly will remain the club’s highest decision-making body.

Speaking on the approval, the Registrar of Sports Associations, Abel Mathias Ngilungwa, said the amendments complied with all legal requirements and do not threaten security or create conflict among members.

He added that the objective of the changes is to strengthen governance foundations, protect club ownership, and create an environment that attracts more investment—an initiative expected to boost Simba’s development both on and off the pitch.

Simba members and fans have been urged to respect the decision and cooperate in implementing the new constitution for the benefit of the club. Sports stakeholders believe the reforms could serve as a catalyst for new success for Simba in both domestic and international competitions.
