Jonathan Sowah Defends Himself Before Simba Disciplinary Committee

Jonathan Sowah, striker for Simba SC, has officially presented his defense before the club’s disciplinary committee following his suspension over various alleged misconducts. The club leadership granted him a hearing to explain his side before making a final decision on his status.

In his defense, Sowah denied some of the allegations while admitting to minor mistakes, emphasizing that he still has the intention and commitment to serve Simba SC.

Denial of Skipping Training

Regarding claims that he refused to participate in training on February 17 ahead of the match against Greenland FC, Sowah stated these allegations are false. He explained that he attended the activation session, although he had already been suspended, which prevented him from taking part in full training or playing on the field.

He added that after completing the short session, the fitness coach allowed him to leave, proving he did not refuse training as claimed.

Top-Up Training Session

Concerning additional training on February 22, Sowah explained that confusion arose due to operational challenges, including team bus delays and missing personal training equipment. He clarified that the session was later conducted at the hotel with teammates under the supervision of the fitness coach, and video evidence exists to prove his full participation.

Admitted Minor Lateness

Sowah admitted being about five minutes late to the February 16 training session. He explained that it was unintentional, caused by oversleeping after a long video analysis session, and promptly informed the coach upon arrival.

Denial of Late Attendance in Team Meetings

The striker strongly denied claims of being late to team meetings, asserting that he has always respected the schedule since joining the club.

Allegation of Wearing Unauthorized Jersey

Regarding the claim that he wore a Benfica jersey during the team trip to Angola, Sowah stated it was false. He confirmed that he wore the official Simba SC jersey and that evidence is available through the club’s official social media photos.

Claims of “Unusual Fouls” on the Field

Responding to allegations of committing unusual fouls during matches, Sowah explained that such actions were part of normal competitive football. He emphasized he never intended to harm opponents or seek a red card.

Denial of Bribery Rumors

Regarding rumors that he received money from Young Africans SC or Singida Black Stars, Sowah strongly denied these claims, calling them false and damaging to his reputation as a professional footballer. He requested that Simba investigate these allegations thoroughly and provide public clarification to protect his honor.

Appeal to the Club

Sowah reaffirmed his sincere intention to serve Simba SC and help the team achieve its goals. He requested the club leadership to lift his suspension or expedite the disciplinary process so he can return to training and continue his football duties.

Currently, the decision of the Simba SC disciplinary committee regarding the striker’s fate is awaited.
