Manchester City Win 2026 EFL Cup After 2-0 Victory Over Arsenal

Manchester City have been crowned champions of the EFL Cup 2026 Final after defeating Arsenal 2-0 in the final played today, Sunday, at Wembley Stadium.

Both goals were scored by Nico O’Reilly, who stood out with an impressive performance and was the hero of the match. The first goal came in the 60th minute after Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga failed to control a cross, while the second goal was scored in the 64th minute with a header following a Manchester City counterattack. O’Reilly was named Man of the Match.

Manchester City, under coach Pep Guardiola, dominated the second half, making the most of their chances and demonstrating excellent attacking organization. Their goalkeeper, James Trafford, made several crucial saves to prevent Arsenal from getting back into the match.

Arsenal struggled to convert their opportunities, with players like Declan Rice unable to make a decisive impact. Mistakes by their goalkeeper also contributed to City’s triumph.

This victory gives Manchester City their first domestic trophy of the season, showcasing their dominance and consistency in English football. For Arsenal, it is a setback, though they continue to compete for other titles in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

Both Arsenal and City are still in the race for the Premier League title, with Arsenal seemingly having a slightly better chance of ending their trophy drought.
