Manchester United Boost Top-Four Hopes with 2-1 Win Over Brentford

Manchester United have strengthened their push for a top Premier League finish after securing a crucial 2-1 victory over Brentford at Old Trafford on Monday night.

The win sees United consolidate third place in the standings, moving three points ahead of Liverpool and edging closer to securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Early goals make the difference

United started the match brightly and took an early lead through experienced midfielder Casemiro, who scored with a header in the 11th minute following a corner kick.

The pressure continued, and before halftime striker Benjamin Ε eΕ‘ko doubled the lead in the 37th minute, finishing off a quick counter-attack initiated by captain Bruno Fernandes.

Brentford attempted a comeback in the second half but only managed to score once through Mathias Jensen late in the game, as United held on to secure the win.

The result takes Manchester United to 61 points, keeping them in third place, with an 11-point gap over sixth place as the season nears its conclusion.

This victory puts them in a strong position to qualify for the Champions League, as the battle for the top four continues to intensify.

Coach urges caution

Interim manager Michael Carrick emphasized that despite the important win, the team must remain focused until the end of the season.

He warned against complacency, urging players to maintain discipline and effort in the remaining matches to secure their European ambitions.
