Allan Okello and Pedro Goncalves Win NBC Premier League April Awards

Young Africans attacking midfielder ALLAN OKELLO has been named the Best Player of April in the 2025/26 NBC Premier League season, while PEDRO GONCALVES of Young Africans was selected as the league’s Best Coach for the same month.

Okello displayed impressive and consistent performances, beating Pacome Zouzoua of Yanga and Idd Selemani of Azam FC, who were also finalists in the monthly awards process conducted by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Awards Committee.

The midfielder made a major contribution to his team in the three matches he played during the month, scoring one goal and contributing to six others in the 320 minutes he featured.

Pedro, who competed against Steve Barker of Simba and Etienne Ndairagije of TRA United for the coaching award, guided Young Africans to victories in all three matches played during April. The team remained at the top of the league standings, scoring 12 goals without conceding any. Young Africans defeated Tanzania Prisons (3-0), Mbeya City (6-0), and Pamba Jiji (3-0).

Meanwhile, the Awards Committee also named HASSAN MWATEREMA of Kagera Sugar as the Best Player of April in the 2025/26 NBC Championship League, while JUMA KASEJA, also of Kagera Sugar, was selected as the Best Coach of the Month.

Mwaterema, who competed against Japhet Mayungu of TMA and Salum Mlemwa of Gunners, delivered consistent performances, including scoring two goals in just 139 minutes across two matches.

Kaseja, who was shortlisted alongside Zuberi Katwila of Geita Gold and Mbwana Makata of Polisi Tanzania, guided his team to victories in both matches played during the month while maintaining second place in the standings.

The Awards Committee has also shortlisted three goals for fans to vote on for the Fans’ Goal of the Month award. The nominated goals are from Pacome Zouzoua (Young Africans vs Mbeya City, 43rd minute), Idd Kipagwile (Dodoma Jiji vs Fountain Gate, 68th minute), and Grayson Gwalala (Coastal Union vs Dodoma Jiji, 14th minute).
