Simba SC are reportedly beginning efforts to find a replacement for striker Jonathan Sowah, with their attention now turning to Stade Malien forward Taddeus Nkeng from Mali.
Reports from transfer sources indicate that Simba are already in early talks regarding the services of the 26-year-old Cameroonian striker.
Nkeng was one of the standout forwards in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL) last season.
However, he still has one year remaining on his contract with Stade Malien, meaning Simba would need to reach an agreement with the Malian club to secure his release before bringing him to Msimbazi.
A source close to the negotiations claims that Simba officials are pushing to complete the deal before the start of pre-season preparations.
Last season, Nkeng impressed in the CAF Champions League, scoring four goals in his first five matches and establishing himself as one of West Africaโs most dangerous forwards. He also scored against Simba during the group stage while playing for Stade Malien.
Beyond his success in Mali, Nkeng has an interesting career path, having developed at FC Portoโs academy, played in Finland with HJK Helsinki and Klubi 04, before moving to Venezuela and later joining Stade Malien.
Simba believe Nkeng could fill the gap left by Sowah due to his goal-scoring ability, physical strength, and experience in international competitions. The clubโs management is keen to strengthen the attacking line ahead of the upcoming Tanzanian Premier League and CAF competitions next season.
