Yanga SC have continued to write history in Tanzanian football after winning the NBC Premier League for a fifth consecutive season, a record that highlights the club’s consistency and dominance in domestic competition.
The Wananchi sealed the title following a convincing 3-0 victory over JKT Tanzania in a match played at Isamuhyo Stadium. The win takes Yanga’s total to 32 league titles in the club’s history.
Striker Prince Dube opened the scoring early in the ninth minute, giving Yanga control of the match and allowing them to go into halftime leading 1-0.
However, just before the end of the first half, fans were left concerned after attacking midfielder Pacome Zouzoua suffered a serious injury following a challenge involving JKT Tanzania defender Twalib Hassan, who was subsequently shown a red card.
In the second half, Yanga continued to dominate and extended their lead through Maxi Nzengeli and Laurindo Aurélio "Depú", sealing a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Despite a challenging and turbulent season, Yanga demonstrated resilience, unity, and fighting spirit to achieve their ultimate goal of another league title.
Their rivals Simba also secured a 1-0 win over KMC, but it was not enough to claim the title as they finished with 73 points, while the champions Yanga topped the table with 75 points.
At the bottom of the table, Mtibwa Sugar have officially been relegated alongside KMC after a 2-2 draw with Namungo FC.
Tanzania Prisons and Mbeya City will now face playoff matches to fight for their place in the top flight.
