Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Yanga SC are facing a difficult decision regarding the future of key striker Prince Dube, whose contract has expired amid growing interest from several clubs in Africa and beyond.
According to sources within the club’s management, the Zimbabwe international has requested permission to seek a new challenge outside Tanzania, believing it is the right time to take the next step in his career after two successful seasons with Yanga.
Those close to the situation indicate that Dube has already received an offer from South African giants Kaizer Chiefs, while also attracting interest from clubs in his home country, Hardrock FC and Scottland FC.
Despite the striker’s desire to explore opportunities abroad, Yanga are not giving up easily. Club officials are reportedly working hard to convince him to extend his stay at Jangwani, insisting he still has an important role in the team’s plans for the upcoming season.
Earlier reports suggested that both Yanga and Dube were close to agreeing a contract extension, but current indications show that the player is now leaning towards a move away from Tanzania.
Dube scored 10 goals in the recently concluded season and remained one of Yanga’s most influential attacking players. In addition to his role as a central striker, he also impressed when deployed in wider attacking positions, adding versatility to the team’s frontline.
In the final matches of the season against Azam FC and JKT Tanzania, he operated mainly from the flanks, contributing both goals and assists.
He has also maintained strong performances with the Zimbabwe national team, a factor that has further increased the number of clubs monitoring his situation ahead of the transfer window.
