Tottenham Hotspur have continued their aggressive approach in the transfer market after reportedly agreeing a club-record £100 million deal to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, alongside another major agreement for West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes.
According to reports confirmed by Sky Sports, Spurs have settled on a total package worth £100 million for Tonali, including an initial fee of £92.5 million and a further £7.5 million in add-ons.
The 26-year-old Italian international is expected to travel from Milan to London on Thursday to undergo medical tests and complete the formalities of his move. It is also reported that Tonali will earn more than £275,000 per week, reflecting Tottenham’s intent to make him one of their highest-paid players.
Sources suggest Tonali was convinced by Spurs’ project under Italian head coach Roberto De Zerbi, despite interest from other top clubs including Manchester City.
In a separate deal, Tottenham have also agreed a club-record fee of £85 million for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, marking a second major signing within days.
The arrivals of Tonali and Fernandes are expected to push Spurs’ total spending in the current transfer window beyond £200 million, signaling a major shift in the club’s transfer strategy.
Alongside these high-profile signings, Spurs have already spent £52 million on Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke and have added experience to the squad with free transfers including Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka.
