Ghanaian striker Jonathan Sowah has spoken about the incident that sparked widespread debate when he was unveiled as a Simba SC player, where he was seen tearing up a picture of Yanga SC President Eng. Hersi Said.
Sowah explained that the act was not his personal decision, insisting that at the time he had no option or choice but to do what he was instructed to do. According to the striker, he came to Tanzania with the main goal of making a living and earning an income through football.
“Sometimes I feel bad about it. What happened was not something I could control, and I had no choice. I came here to make money; I had to do what they wanted me to do.”
His comments have sparked a fresh debate about the incident, with Sowah making it clear that he did not carry out the act willingly. The incident occurred during his unveiling by Simba and later became one of the memorable moments among Tanzanian football fans.
