Simba head coach Steve Barker says his team is in Malawi with one clear objective: to play good football and secure victory in their CAF Champions League clash against Mighty Wanderers.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the preliminary-round encounter, which will be played tomorrow, Sunday, at Bingu Stadium, Barker said he is aware they are facing a good team with experienced players, many of whom also represent their respective national teams.
However, he stressed that his squad is ready for the challenge and is targeting a positive result that would put them in a strong position to advance to the next round.
“Every team in this competition wants to progress and move forward, just as we do at Simba.”
“Mighty Wanderers are a good team made up of many experienced players who are part of their national teams.”
“But we are here to play good football and get a positive result,” Barker said.
The Simba squad arrived in Malawi yesterday and had the opportunity to hold their first training session in the country later that evening.
Today, Simba will complete their final preparations at Bingu Stadium.
