Simba striker Ibrahim Doumbia has admitted that he is going through a difficult spell without scoring in the early stages of the season, saying it is a new experience for him since he began playing competitive football.
Doumbia said that despite getting opportunities to play, he has yet to find the back of the net, describing the situation as part of the challenges of football, particularly at the start of a season.
“It is the first time I have gone through a period like this because this is a league that has only just started. So it is normal, especially when you are getting your first opportunities. This is the first time I have experienced a situation like this,” Doumbia said.
Doumbia believes the situation is part of the season’s process and that creating scoring opportunities is an important step before the goals eventually start coming.
Doumbia’s comments come as Simba fans continue to support him, while the coaching staff, led by head coach Steve Barker, have shown confidence in him despite the challenge he is facing.
Although he is yet to score, Doumbia appears to be a striker with considerable ability, as he demonstrated during the few minutes he played in the previous match against Mighty Wanderers.
