Simba continued to strengthen their record in the CAF Champions League (CAFCL), storming into the first round with a commanding 6-1 victory over Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers.
The Reds of Msimbazi scored six goals in the match played at Uhuru Stadium, advancing to the next stage with a 7-1 aggregate victory.
Simba dominated the match from the outset, with Steve Barker’s side needing just eight minutes to open the scoring through Clatous Chama after combining with Anicet Oura.
It was a one-sided affair, with Simba leading 3-1 at half-time, Chama scoring twice and Libasse Gueye adding the other.
Libasse added his second goal early in the second half before Keletso Makgalwa, who came on for Anicet Oura, scored Simba’s fifth in the 87th minute, with Morice Abraham putting the finishing touch on a memorable night in stoppage time.
It was an outstanding 90 minutes for Simba, sending a strong message in this competition that they have serious ambitions in this season’s CAF Champions League.
