Yanga will take to the pitch at Azam Complex in Chamazi tonight at 7:00 p.m. to conclude their second-leg tie against Madagascar’s CFFA as they battle for a place in the CAF Champions League group stage.
The Wananchi are playing at home after recording a 4-0 victory in the first leg, which was also played at Azam Complex.
CFFA will clearly need a miracle to eliminate Yanga tonight, as they would mathematically need to win by at least 5-0 to qualify directly.
Yanga, meanwhile, are in a different position. Coach Manqoba Mngqithi’s side will enter the match without much pressure, having already completed more than half of the job.
However, Mngqithi has said his team will take to the pitch focused on winning, regardless of the result they secured in the first leg.
There has been some criticism following the previous match, and Yanga players are expected to take to the Azam Complex pitch tonight knowing they owe their fans a strong performance. Supporters want to see them do even better than they did in the first leg.
The attacking department came under heavy criticism for wasting clear scoring opportunities. Tonight offers the players a chance to demonstrate what they have worked on during training.
A victory tonight would guarantee Yanga qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage for the fourth consecutive season, setting a record as the first Tanzanian team to achieve that feat.
